has been built out of a desire to connect LGBTQ+ job seekers with companies that have LGBT inclusive policies. In addition, our hope is to ensure job seekers are valued not only for their knowledge and skill but also for their intersectional identities.

Over the past 9 years, we have been doing in-person LGBT Career Fairs in one form or another. We are adapting to live in a world where there is desire to be connected to opportunities all day, every day.

Many communities throughout the United States have an LGBT Career Fair or Job Fair that is put together. Sometimes that is once a year sometimes less. We are here to provide the tools and resources to community organizations in order to increase the effectiveness of their LGBT Career Fairs, ensure those career fairs are accomplished with the LGBTQ+ job seeker as the primary audience and that companies are able to connect with talent that will bring about and enhance the cultural changes occurring in workplaces across the United States.

With each market that Chaleur Creative creates a footprint within, we are building relationships with community organizations, leaders and influencers and we are connecting with companies and LGBTQ+ job seekers to affect change within the the LGBTQ+ community.

As a company, we facilitate and/or own other networks similar to Identify Careers. It’s interesting to see the companies that participate in, let say a, tech focused career fair, or a straight / ally career fair, but refuse to pay for or participate in an LGBT Career Fair. Over the past 9 years we have learned to identify which companies are allies of the LGBTQ+ community, and which companies raise inclusion as a talking point, but rarely if ever, have the support structure within their company to support the LGBTQ+ talent they seek to employ.

The tokenization of the LGBTQ+ community as a media outreach talking point in hiring and retention strategies must be met with true desire to support, engage with and learn from the LGBTQ+ community. This includes action steps like having a process in place for harassment in the workplace for LGBTQ+ employees and vendors, identification of key leaders in the LGBTQ+ community to build Employee Resource Groups or Business Resource Groups within a company, healthcare provisions that are equal to or greater than the coverage given to straight, cis gender and allied workers and so much more.

Our company selection process to join Identify Careers is of paramount importance to our team at Chaleur Creative. We have a series of companies that we have identified over the past 9 years that are doing the work to support LGBTQ+ talent. Most companies are somewhere on the awareness cycle. Unaware to aware, aware to education, education to advocacy and everywhere in between. We engage with companies that are doing the work. If we find that a company is not doing the work, we have open and honest discussions about what is happening and what we can do to support that company in their awareness, education and advocacy advancement.

In some cases, we ask that companies not participate with us. These cases are rare and account for a small percentage of companies that we work with on an ongoing basis. In our efforts with Identify Careers and with the LGBT Career Fairs that occur with Chaleur Creative, we work to connect companies with subject matter experts on their intended goals. Whether it’s healthcare policy, training and on boarding, building of awareness of LGBTQ+ cultural competence or C-Suite retreats to identify key initiatives and ways to support the LGBTQ+ community authentically.

Welcome to Identify Careers. We hope to be of service in the best way we can be for LGBTQ+ job seekers, companies that have LGBT inclusive policies and all individuals with intersectional identities. We aren’t perfect, but we do aim to support the LGBTQ+ community in the best ways we know how with the tools and resources we have.
